Vivo has officially launched the Vivo Y21d in Nepal, expanding its budget smartphone lineup with a strong focus on durability and battery life. Marketed as a rugged everyday phone, the Y21d brings features like IP69+ water resistance, military-grade drop protection, and a massive 6,500mAh battery.
In this article, we take a closer look at the Vivo Y21d’s price in Nepal, specifications, features, and availability.
Vivo Y21d Overview
Design and Build Quality
The Vivo Y21d features a minimal and practical design, which feels appropriate for a phone in this price segment. It comes with a composite plastic back and is available in two color options: Coral Red and Jade Green. Weighing 209 grams and measuring 8.39mm in thickness, the phone does feel slightly heavy, but that’s understandable considering the rugged build and large battery.
One of the biggest highlights of the Y21d is its IP68 and IP69+ rating, making it resistant to dust and high-pressure water. Vivo claims the device can survive submersion up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. The phone also uses a triple-layer water-resistant structure and foam sealing adhesive, which Vivo refers to as part of its “anti-drop phone” design.
According to the brand, the Y21d has undergone 42,000 drop tests and 10,000 USB port insertion tests. Additionally, it comes with Guardian Glass protection, which Vivo says offers improved puncture resistance and better durability against rough surfaces.
Display and Audio
On the front, the Vivo Y21d sports a 6.68-inch LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The panel has an HD+ resolution of 1608 × 720 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 264 PPI. Brightness goes up to 1,000 nits, making the screen usable even under direct sunlight.
While the display is suited for everyday tasks like browsing and video streaming, it remains fairly standard for the segment. Vivo has also included dual stereo speakers, which the company claims can deliver up to 400% volume boost, potentially improving the multimedia experience.
Performance and Software
The Vivo Y21d is powered by the T7225 processor, which is essentially a rebranded Unisoc T612 chipset built on a 12nm process. It delivers average performance suitable for daily usage such as social media, messaging, and light apps. In benchmark tests, the chip typically scores around 250,000–270,000 on AnTuTu.
In terms of software, the phone runs on Android 15 with Funtouch OS 15 on top. This ensures access to the latest Android features and security updates, along with Vivo’s familiar UI experience.
Camera and Battery
For photography, the Vivo Y21d comes with a 50MP primary rear camera paired with a 0.08MP depth sensor. On the front, there’s a 5MP selfie camera. The camera setup is fairly basic but should be sufficient for casual photography and social media use. Vivo is also promoting underwater photography, taking advantage of the phone’s water-resistant design.
Powering the device is a 6,500mAh Li-ion battery, which is one of the key selling points of the Y21d. It supports 44W fast charging, allowing users to top up the battery relatively quickly despite its large capacity. The battery should comfortably last more than a full day on regular use.
