TECNO Spark 50 Pro

TECNO has officially launched the Spark 50 Pro in Nepal, adding a new smartphone to its Spark 50 series. Compared to the previous-generation Spark 40 Pro, the new model brings upgrades such as a larger battery, faster charging, and improved durability with an IP68/IP69 rating. However, TECNO has retained the same MediaTek Helio G100 Ultimate chipset.

In this article, we’ll cover everything you need to know about the TECNO Spark 50 Pro, including its specifications, features, price, and availability in Nepal.

TECNO Spark 50 Pro Overview

Battery and Camera

One of the biggest upgrades on the TECNO Spark 50 Pro is its battery capacity. The phone packs a 6,000mAh battery, compared to the 5,200mAh battery on the Spark 40 Pro. TECNO also offers a 5,600mAh battery option on the dual-cell version, although the battery capacity may vary depending on the region.

The Spark 50 Pro supports 60W wired fast charging. According to TECNO, the phone can reach around 63% charge in approximately 30 minutes and a full charge in about 55 minutes. It also supports Bypass Charging, which can help reduce heat and battery stress during extended gaming or heavy usage.

For photography, the Spark 50 Pro features a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture. The sensor is similar to the one used on the Spark 40 Pro, although the newer model uses a slightly narrower f/1.8 aperture instead of f/1.6.

On the front, TECNO has opted for an 8MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture, replacing the 13MP front camera found on its predecessor. The camera setup should handle everyday photography and video calls well, although low-light images may lack detail compared to more camera-focused smartphones.

Design and Display

The TECNO Spark 50 Pro features a plastic unibody design and measures just 7.8mm thick. TECNO has also redesigned the rear camera module, moving away from the vertical camera layout of the Spark 40 Pro in favor of a rectangular camera island.

The phone also receives a significant durability upgrade. It carries IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance, compared to the IP64 rating on the previous model. This makes the Spark 50 Pro better equipped to handle dust, water, and everyday environmental exposure.

TECNO offers the smartphone in several color options, including Ink Black, Titanium Grey, Midnight Blue, Dynamic Orange, and Cloud White.

On the front, the phone sports a large 6.78-inch IPS LCD display with an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. While the 120Hz refresh rate should provide smooth scrolling and animations, the HD+ resolution feels dated for a smartphone in this price range. Competing devices such as the Realme P3 and Infinix Note 60 offer sharper FHD+ displays.

Performance and Software

Under the hood, TECNO uses the MediaTek Helio G100 Ultimate chipset, built on a 6nm process. This is the same processor found in the Spark 40 Pro, so the Spark 50 Pro does not offer a major performance upgrade over its predecessor.

The chipset should comfortably handle everyday tasks such as browsing the web, using social media, streaming videos, and running regular apps. However, users looking for stronger gaming and overall performance can find more powerful alternatives in a similar price segment.

The Spark 50 Pro comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, while a microSDXC card provides additional storage expansion.

On the software side, the phone runs Android 16 with HiOS 16 and includes TECNO’s AI-powered features and ecosystem. For connectivity, the smartphone supports 4G, dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and USB Type-C.

Conclusion

The TECNO Spark 50 Pro brings several useful upgrades over the Spark 40 Pro, particularly its larger 6,000mAh battery, 60W fast charging, and improved IP68/IP69 protection. The 120Hz display, expandable storage, and HiOS 16 based on Android 16 also add to its everyday appeal.

However, the phone retains the same Helio G100 Ultimate chipset as its predecessor and uses an HD+ display, which may make it less competitive against some alternatives in the same price range. At NPR 47,999, buyers should therefore consider whether the Spark 50 Pro’s battery and durability features outweigh its relatively modest performance and display upgrades.
