Motorola has officially unveiled a new smartphone in China—the Motorola Moto S50. Interestingly, this device has already made its global debut under a different name: the Motorola Edge 50 Neo. In this article, we take a closer look at the Motorola S50, covering its design, display, performance, cameras, battery, full specifications, and its expected price in Nepal.
Motorola S50 Overview:
Design and Display
The Motorola Moto S50 carries a premium and modern design, closely resembling the Motorola Edge 50 Pro. It features a sleek profile with a smooth matte finish that feels comfortable in hand. The phone is available in three stylish color options: Persimmon Orange, Flora Blue, and Latte. For security, Motorola has included an in-display fingerprint scanner.
On the front, the Moto S50 sports a 6.36-inch LTPO display with 1.5K resolution, delivering sharp visuals and vibrant colors. The panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth scrolling and animations, while a peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits makes it easily readable even under direct sunlight. Additionally, the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and the device comes with an IP68 rating, offering resistance against dust and water.
Performance and Camera
Powering the Motorola S50 is the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, built on an efficient 4nm process. It features an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores, reaching clock speeds of up to 2.5GHz. The phone runs on Android 14, layered with Motorola’s Hello UX, providing a clean, smooth, and user-friendly experience.
In the camera department, the Moto S50 delivers a versatile setup. It houses a 50MP Sony IMX896 primary sensor with OIS for sharp and stable shots, a 13MP ultra-wide camera that also doubles as a macro lens, and a 10MP telephoto sensor offering 3× optical zoom. For selfies and video calls, there’s a 32MP front-facing camera.
Battery and Storage
The Motorola S50 is backed by a 4,310mAh battery, which supports 68W fast charging. According to Motorola, the phone can charge from 0 to 50% in just 13 minutes. It also supports 15W wireless charging, adding extra convenience.
In terms of storage, the phone comes in two variants. Both models feature 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM paired with UFS 2.2 storage. Users can choose between 256GB or 512GB of internal storage, offering ample space for apps, photos, and videos.
