POCO M8 5G

POCO has officially unveiled the POCO M8 5G in India, expanding its popular M-series lineup. This new midrange smartphone closely mirrors the Redmi Note 15 5G, sharing core hardware such as the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset and a large 6.77-inch AMOLED display. Let’s dive straight into the design, performance, cameras, battery, and the expected price of the POCO M8 5G in Nepal.

POCO M8 5G Overview

Design and Display

The POCO M8 5G adopts a familiar design language that closely resembles the Redmi Note 15 5G. It features a squarish rear camera module, a curved middle frame, and a slim profile that feels comfortable in hand. Apart from the bold POCO branding and signature stripes on the Silver variant, it’s hard to visually distinguish the two phones.

POCO offers the M8 5G in Silver, Green, and Black color options. For durability, the device comes with an IP65 rating, ensuring protection against dust and water splashes.

On the front, the phone sports a 6.77-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel delivers an impressive 3200 nits of peak brightness, making outdoor visibility excellent. Additional display highlights include a 2560Hz instant touch sampling rate and 3840Hz PWM dimming, which together enhance responsiveness and reduce eye strain during prolonged use.

Performance and Software

Powering the POCO M8 5G is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 5G processor, built on an efficient 4nm architecture. This chipset features:

  • 4× Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4GHz
  • 4× Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz

In terms of raw performance, it competes directly with processors like the Dimensity 7300 found on phones such as the CMF Phone 1 and last year’s Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G.

On the software side, the phone runs HyperOS 2, layered on top of Android 15, delivering a smooth UI experience with improved animations, better resource management, and enhanced privacy controls.

Camera and Other Features

For photography, the POCO M8 5G comes with a dual rear camera setup:

  • 50MP Light Fusion 400 primary sensor
  • 2MP depth sensor

This setup handles everyday photography well, producing sharp images with good dynamic range in daylight conditions. On the front, POCO includes a 20MP selfie camera, ideal for social media, selfies, and video calls.

Fueling the device is a 5520mAh battery, which easily lasts a full day of use. It supports 45W fast wired charging, allowing quick top-ups, and also offers 18W reverse wired charging, letting you use the phone as a power bank for other devices.

Connectivity options include 5G, VoNR, 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The phone also features stereo speakers and an in-display fingerprint sensor for secure unlocking.
