Vivo G3 5G Overview
Vivo has expanded its G-series lineup with the launch of the Vivo G3 5G. This new model succeeds the Vivo G2 5G, which debuted in China back in January 2024. While it remains a budget-oriented 5G smartphone, the G3 brings a handful of meaningful upgrades in design, performance, and battery life. Let’s take a closer look at the Vivo G3 5G, including its features, specifications, and expected price in Nepal.
Design and Display
Starting with the design, the Vivo G3 5G feels more refined than its predecessor. The phone now comes with an IP64 rating, offering protection against dust and light splashes. Vivo has also added its signature Aura Light, similar to what we’ve seen on its V-series phones—although here, it’s more of a design element than a functional one.
For durability, the device carries SGS five-star drop-resistant certification, which should provide some peace of mind for daily use. Security is handled via a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, which remains quick and reliable.
On the front, Vivo sticks with an IPS LCD panel featuring a waterdrop notch, HD+ resolution, and a 90Hz refresh rate, much like last year’s model. The only notable change is the slightly larger 6.74-inch display, up from 6.56 inches on the Vivo G2.
Performance and Memory
Under the hood, the Vivo G3 5G gets a modest but welcome performance upgrade. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, replacing the older Dimensity 6020 found on the G2 5G. In real-world use, this translates to roughly a 5–10% performance boost, which should help with smoother multitasking and everyday tasks.
In terms of memory, the phone is available with 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, paired with 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. However, there’s an important distinction here:
- The 128GB variant uses slower eMMC 5.1 storage,
- While the 256GB model benefits from faster UFS 2.2 storage.
The Vivo G3 5G runs on Android 15-based OriginOS 5, although Vivo hasn’t revealed its long-term software update policy yet.
Cameras, Battery, and Other Features
Camera-wise, the Vivo G3 keeps things fairly basic. On the back, there’s a 13MP primary camera, accompanied by an auxiliary sensor. For selfies and video calls, you get a 5MP front-facing camera.
One of the standout features of the Vivo G3 5G is its massive 6,000mAh battery, which should easily last a full day—or more—on a single charge. It also supports 44W fast charging, allowing for quicker top-ups despite the large battery size.
Other notable features include:
- 3.5mm headphone jack
- Dual-band Wi-Fi
- Infrared (IR) blaster
- 5G connectivity
